Richard Pirie TEP
26 January 2012
It is with deep regret that we announce that Richard Pirie TEP died
on 13 January 2012.
Richard joined Collas Crill in 2006 and his
passing is a great loss to us and all his clients and those who
knew him.
He was promoted to Counsel at Collas Crill on
1 January, the highest position a lawyer can hold at the firm.
Richard was held in so much affection by all
who knew him, even those who had not known him long; he was a
technically skilled and widely versatile advocate and had attained
a great deal of recognition as a expert in commercial and trust
law, particularly in Jersey Foundations.
He was exceptionally kind, very generous with
his time especially to those starting out in their careers,
sensitive, cultured and humorous.
Richard was a full member of STEP and had been
on the Panel of Experts for the Private Client Awards since 2007.
He was nominated in the Honours category of the 2011 Citywealth
Awards and was a regular conference speaker and writer. Legal 500
2011 commented that Richard was 'particularly good'; he was
extremely proud of this accolade.
Richard qualified as an English Solicitor in
1987 and as a Jersey Advocate in 1991. His experience included both
private practice, dealing with litigation, property, commercial and
trust work, and in-house roles including as head of legal services
at a Jersey trust company.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Richard's
family.
